India's navigation system NAVIC

We are familiar with ISRO. Then what is this navigation system NAVIC?. NAVIC means "Navigation with Indian constellation". Have you heard it before?. we know about GPS(Global Positioning System) navigation system correct? then what is this NAVIC navigation system?. It is India's own navigation system and with in few months Indian's are going avail this facility.

Need and importance of this technology

Hardly five countries are having their own navigation system. They are America, Russia, China, European Union, Japan. Among which American navigation system GPS navigation system is world wide famous. Most of the countries are depending upon America for this technology. But India is denied by America during critical situations like in kargil War to know the situation of enemy. At that time the idea of having our own navigation system was generated. It came into action by 2006.

ISRO generated its first satellite called IRNSS(Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System). On Friday ISRO has generated its 7th satellite. That is the last satellite of IRNSS-1G by ISRO famous vehicle called PSLV.

To have their navigational facility other countries used 10's of satellite. But India made it by 7 satellites only. It can offer navigation not only India it can extended upto 1500 km in surrounding countries.

With this NAVIC India will have lot of advantages like I Indian's can implement global positioning system and moment in radars by our satellite system only.It will be ease of fishing, land survey and other observations. With this technology travelling will be easier.More over India can reduce foreign exchange for using GPS like systems.
